Weather Fun at Balloo Sky Meeting

Cub Scout Pack 248 capped off their month of weather-related meetings with the Balloo Sky Pack Meeting. The Wolf Den did a great job with closing and opening ceremonies which bracketed a meeting in which scouts had fun and learned about extreme weather survival skills. They also awarded their top Pinewood Derby winner with his trophy.

Scouting for Food and Clothing Bag Distribution This Saturday, March 24

This Saturday, March 24 is the day for Scouting for Food and Clothing bag distribution. We will be handing out plastic bags to all the homes in our area so that they can fill them with food and clothing which we will pick up on Saturday, March 31.

The Tiger Cub Den leaders, our SFF&C representatives, will have the details on where to meet and when at this week's pack meeting.

Pancake Breakfast Success

Congratulations on the whole pack for the success of the pancake breakfast. The planning committee, the cooks and servers, the scouts who cleaned the tables, all the donors - great work! We made roughly $1200 before supplies in what is our biggest fundraiser of the year. The funds will be put to good use for our programs over then summer and next year.

Scouting for Food and Clothing

Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Explorers collected enough food to supply almost one-third of the meals served to the needy in Monroe County! Our partnership with the Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired (ABVI/Goodwill Industries) brings much needed promotion, publicity and plastic bags for the collection of food and clothing. Last year we collected 86 tons of food and 100 tons of clothing. We hope to do even more in 2007.

The 2007 drive begins with bag distribution on Saturday, March 24th and bag pick-up on Saturday, March 31st. There will be two bags distributed to each household – one for food and one for clothing – both bags will be picked up and taken to a designated collection site.
